Codebreakers - Special Primary School Program

This collaboration between the Discovery Science and Technology Centre and Bendigo Tech School gives Year 5 and 6 students a full-day gaming and coding experience and is the perfect way to celebrate International Women's Day.

Students visit the Codebreakers: Women in Games exhibition at Discovery where they will explore emerging and established female game makers in an interactive and immersive exhibition. Students can get hands-on with an array of playable games – from indie through to commercial hits and new releases –all made by Australian and New Zealand women.

They then take part in a coding workshop where they will work in teams to respond to coding challenges using Sphero Robots. In the afternoon, students will transfer to Bendigo Tech School for a Digital Escape Room Challenge. In this fun, collaborative learning activity, teams of students race against a timer to solve a series of STEM puzzles. They then design and code their own maths or science escape room challenge to try to outwit each other.
