Seed2STEM: GLAM Immersion Day #4

On 30 July, the Seed2STEM: GLAM participants explored the transformative power of medical technology, gaining hands-on experience and real-world insights into how innovation is shaping the future of healthcare. Their fourth immersion day began with a reflection on what the program had provided the students so far, with words such as 'courage, inspiration, and bravery' commonly used.

This was followed by an interactive, hands-on session with Dylan Nguyen from BUGBOX, where students discovered the role of emerging technologies in improving patient care. Through practical, hands-on activities, they were challenged to think like innovators, designing solutions that could one day change how medical support is delivered.

The afternoon saw the students venture to Bendigo Health, where their dedicated team provided a behind-the-scenes look at how technology drives efficiency and accuracy in modern healthcare systems. From pharmacy and medical dispensing to porterage operations, students saw firsthand how STEAM skills are helping to streamline processes and ensure better outcomes for patients.

This experience opened students’ eyes to the many career pathways where science, technology, and creativity intersect to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. The energy and excitement throughout the day reflected the lasting impact these experiences can have in building aspiration and confidence for young women pursuing STEAM futures.

Thank you to Sharon Hebbard and the Seed2STEM team, Dylan from Bugbox, and Kristy, Matthew, and the team at Bendigo Health for providing such an inspiring opportunity for our local students. You have helped them see how their skills and passion could one day shape the future of healthcare and change lives.

Bendigo Tech School is a proud supporter of GLAM, an initiative of the Geelong Manufacturing Council's Seed2STEM Bendigo program.
